Fancy Butter Trail Mix

A savory, crunchy upgrade for your favorite buttered popcorn.

There’s buttered popcorn. And then there’s Fancy Butter.

Rich. Smooth. Deeply buttery.

So instead of overpowering it with sugar, we build around it.

The question is just… which direction are you going?

One sachet of Fancy Butter makes one full bowl, about 9 cups of popcorn.

From there, you’ve got two lanes.

Team Savory

Balanced. Nutty. A little sharp.
Snack board energy.

Ingredients

  • 1 sachet Fancy Butter (popped — makes about 9 cups)

  • ½ cup roasted almonds

  • ½ cup roasted cashews

  • ¼ cup salted pepitas

  • ¼ cup parmesan crisps or shaved parmesan

  • ¼ cup dried tart cherries

    Optional: cracked black pepper, rosemary crackers, flaky salt

How to Make It

  1. Pop one sachet of Fancy Butter and let it cool slightly so it stays crisp.

  2. In a large bowl, combine popcorn with nuts, pepitas, parmesan, and cherries.

  3. Toss gently to distribute evenly.

  4. Taste and adjust with flaky salt or pepper if desired.

  5. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Why It Works

The parmesan adds contrast.
The nuts bring depth.
The cherries prevent it from feeling heavy.

It’s savory-forward, not dessert.

 

Team Sweet (But Still Balanced)

Still grown-up. Just a little softer.

Ingredients

  • 1 sachet Fancy Butter (popped — makes about 9 cups)

  • ½ cup roasted almonds

  • ½ cup roasted cashews

  • ⅓ cup dark chocolate chunks (70% cacao works best)

  • ¼ cup dried cherries or chopped dried apricots

  • A pinch of flaky sea salt

    Optional: cacao nibs for crunch without added sweetness

How to Make It

  1. Pop one sachet of Fancy Butter and let it cool completely.

  2. In a large bowl, combine popcorn with nuts and dried fruit.

  3. Gently fold in chocolate chunks last so they don’t melt too quickly.

  4. Finish with a light pinch of flaky salt.

  5. Serve right away for best texture.

Why It Works

The dark chocolate softens slightly against the warm butter.
Salt keeps it from tipping into candy territory.
It’s sweet, but balanced.

Fancy Butter is the base.
Everything else is personality.

When to Serve It

  • Wine night

  • Game night

  • After-school snack (but slightly elevated)

  • A “why is this so good?” moment at 9:30pm
